GRANTS FOR PREVENTION OF DECUBITUS ULCER: COMPARISON OF SCALE ASSESSING- SISTEMATIC REVIEW OF LITERATURE
Abstract
The pressure ulcers (PU) are an important problem of health. The best strategy to avoid them is prevention. There are many scales of risk assessment to prevention of pressure ulcers, that complement the examination of nurses. The present study one is about a comparison enters two methods evaluators of risk factors for developing pressure ulcers: Waterlow scale and the Braden scale in order to know which has better efficiency by focusing on providing preventive care to the hospitalized client. Aimed at analyzing articles published in scientific journals and international Online Brazilian Journal of Nursing and the electronic database LILACS and PubMed, from 2005 to 2009. The methodology used was a literature review with qualitative approach, being 11 articles selected and analyzed. It was concluded that both scales are effective in assessing risk for development of UP and the use of scales increases the intensity and effectiveness of intervention and prevention.
