Decreased cardiac output - systematic review of the literature

Adriana Santos Raposo, Isabel CFda Cruz

Abstract

Problem: Cardiovascular diseases represent a relevant cause of hospitalization and a major clinical challenge today. The interpretation of signs and symptoms, consequences of the pathophysiological process and destabilization in face of the disease and the treatment make the nursing service difficult. Method: This was a systematized review carried out in the BVS and PUBMED databases from 2010 to 2016. Objective: To identify in the national and international literature the knowledge produced about which nursing intervention for the highly complex client with the Nursing diagnosis decreased cardiac output. Result: The intensive care nurse should be able to identify clinical signs of decreased cardiac output and be aware of cardiac output monitoring. Discussion: Due to the scarcity of literature, more studies are needed that present scientific evidence related to nursing interventions for patients with decreased cardiac output. For, most studies are about systematic review and publications prior to 2010.
