What is the best digital technology for nursing intervention for patients with burn trauma? – Systematized Literature Review

JULIANA ERMIDA PEDREIRA LUIZ, Isabel Cristina Fonseca da Cruz

Abstract

Objective: The present study aims to search the literature for digital technologies that optimize nurses' professional practice in caring for patients with trauma caused by burns. Method: This is a systematic literature review, carried out from September to November 2022, in the Virtual Health Library (BVS), using the following electronic databases: Lilacs (Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Information Literature), Medline (Online Medical Literature Search and Analysis System) and BDENF ( Nursing Database). The descriptors used were “robotics”, “virtual reality” and “artificial intelligence”, together with “burns”, using the Boelean operator AND. In this review the PICOT strategy was used. Results: 79 articles were found, 10 of which were selected after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Conclusion: With regard to the care offered to patients with burn trauma, the most used technologies, based on the literature, are Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Among the two, VR stands out, which, in addition to being more evident in studies, promotes direct effects on the patient and the assistance of professional nurses.
Key words:digital technologies, nursing care, burns, virtual reality, artificial intelligence.
