Nursing evidence-based inteprofissional practice guidelines for anxiety related to death in ICU - Systematic Literature Review

Abstract


Death-related anxiety is an important factor in the Intensive Care Unit for both the nurse and the patient and their family members. Thus, the following practical question, the high-complexity client with the diagnosis of anxiety related to death, was established, what is the most effective nursing intervention for its resolution? Objective to review the evidence-based practice using the PICO strategy that will help the intensive care nurse in the identification and treatment of nursing care behavior related to death-related anxiety in the ICU. Methodology a study carried out by means of a computerized search in order to produce a systematic review of the literature, in the Virtual Health Library (VHL), in the bases: Lilacs, Bdenf and Scielo, between 2013 and 2018, using as descriptors: anxiety, death, intensive care unit. Results nurses did not are prepared to deal with death, and are seen as a professional defeat. Conclusion highlights the need to train professionals during the academic life, since nursing courses do not yet offer space for this theme.
